Washington Monthly ranks Lewis & Clark in top 25
August 26, 2013
Focusing on how schools contribute to the public good, Washington Monthly named Lewis & Clark among the top 25 liberal arts colleges in the country.
Lewis & Clark was ranked third among liberal arts colleges for community service participation and hours served. The college has made service a priority, creating the Office of Student Leadership and Service to give students the chance to engage, learn, and lead through ongoing and one-time service, immersion programs, and academic civic engagement.
The college also received high marks for participation in the Peace Corps, for which Lewis & Clark has consistently been a top producer of volunteers.
Washington Monthly rates schools based on their contributions in three broad categories: social mobility (recruiting and graduating low-income students), research (producing cutting-edge scholarship and PhDs), and service (encouraging students to give something back to their country).
