Dr. Evette Castillo Clark

Vice President of Student Life and Dean of Students

Dr. Evette Castillo Clark, a national leader in students affairs with nearly three decades of experience, became Lewis & Clark’s vice president of student life and dean of students on August 1. Clark most recently served as associate vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion at Saint Mary’s College of California. Before taking on that role, she served as associate vice president and dean of students at Saint Mary’s. She has also served in a variety of student affairs positions at other private and public universities.

Clark has been active in state and national organizations, including serving on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), the National Academic Advising Association, and the American Council on Education Northern California Women’s Network. In 2021, she was honored as a NASPA Pillar of the Profession.


Dr. Danielle Torres

Dean of Equity and Inclusion

Dr. Danielle Torres, an accomplished member of the faculty in the Graduate School of Education and Counseling, assumed the role of Lewis & Clark’s dean of equity and inclusion on August 15. Torres joined Lewis & Clark in 2004 as an assistant professor in the school counseling program at the graduate school. She served as codirectorof that program from 2005 to 2012 and is currently a tenured associate professor in the graduate school.

Her publications cover topics such as PK-20 school supports for BIPOC and undocumented students, equity-based data practices, and barriers to women’s career adjustment. Torres will step back from her current duties at the graduate school to take on her new role as dean of equity and inclusion. The position will focus on strategic planning; faculty and staff support; and promotion of diversity, equity and inclusion institution-wide.
