Sam Tidwell

Sam Tidwell BA ’13 is a teacher at Mary Chapa Academy in Greenfield, California. Shortly after graduating from Lewis & Clark, Tidwell hit the road, walking 5,200 miles across the entire North American continent. “I wanted to see America and learn its essentials,” he told local paper Anderson Valley Advertiser. While he traveled, Tidwell wrote in a journal and made short films to document and reflect on his journey. His advice to those who would seek a similar adventure: “Have a sense of purpose. If you’re doing it . . . for status and reputation, I don’t think that’s enough to keep you going for hundreds, if not thousands, of miles.”
