Joseph Boutin

Joseph Boutin BS ’57, December 14, 2022, age 87. Boutin was a successful athlete during his time at Lewis & Clark, setting the L&C record for javelin and winning championships in 1956 and 1957. He was inducted into the L&C Hall of Fame in 1978. After graduating, Boutin joined the Marines. In 1962, he moved to Clatskanie, Oregon, where he taught history and coached track and basketball at the local high school. After retiring in 1991, Boutin continued coaching, becoming a much sought-after javelin coach, with several Olympians amongst those he mentored. Survivors include his wife, Jan; his children, Tammy and Tracy; and five grandchildren.
