Gilbert Shibley BA ’60, September 8, 2023, age 85. Shibley graduated with a degree in biology after marrying Barbara Shibley BA ’59 in the fall of his senior year. He went on to earn MA and PhD degrees in biology from the University of Oregon in 1964. After a post-doc year at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, he taught at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, for 10 years. Upon returning to Oregon, he worked for Oregon State University Extension, first as the 4-H agent in Multnomah and Columbia counties, and later as a forestry assistant for Clackamas County. Survivors include his children, Jeremy Shibley BA ’82, Mark, Stephen, Becky Shibley BA ’87, and their spouses; seven grandchildren and their partners; and two great-grandchildren.
