Alumni Weekend reunites former classmates

Rain showers did little to dampen high spirits at Alumni Weekend in late June, as more than 120 former classmates (nearly one-third from the class of 1992) returned to campus.

“The campus has never looked better,” says Darren Drabek ’97, assistant director of admissions at Skidmore College in New York. “It appears more complete and better equipped to stimulate the academic and residential community that is Lewis & Clark College.”

The centerpiece of the two-day event was Alumni College, which provided alums with an opportunity to return to the classroom. Participants attended lectures about U.S. foreign policy, recent U.S. Senate confirmations, and the College’s special collection of Lewis and Clark memorabilia, as well as sessions on the Japanese tea ceremony and rose gardening.

Following a gala dinner in Stamm Dining Room, alumni danced to the tunes of Jesse Withers ’99 and Jackstraw, a Portland-based bluegrass band that offered up a lively tempo change.
