Albany Open House a Great Success

More than 100 Lewis & Clark faculty and staff visited the Open House, enjoying food and drinks as they moved through the building

The Albany Open House, held on Thursday, December 6, was a resounding success! The event was hosted by every office in Albany:

  • Academic English Studies
  • College Advising Center
  • Overseas & Off-Campus Programs
  • Office of the Dean of the College
  • Sponsored Research
  • Student Support Services

More than 100 Lewis & Clark faculty and staff visited the Open House, enjoying food and drinks as they moved through the building. Passports were distributed so that attendees could accumulate a stamp from each office, and completed passports were entered into a raffle. The seventeen prizes included John Krussel’s legendary homemade cheesecake; a cross stitch of the State of Oregon from Overseas Programs Coordinator Kaitlin Sommerfeld; champagne from Dean Bruce Suttmeier; and a beautiful Harry and David gift basket from Academic English Studies.

Members of the L&C community who attended visited and learned about all of the offices in Albany Quadrangle. Many attendees exclaimed, for example, that they had visited Student Support Services dozens of times but had never been to the Advising Center. Or that they had no idea that Albany had a downstairs (which is where Academic English Studies lives!). After the Open House, all Albany employees gathered to pick door prize winners. The overwhelming sentiment in the room was that having a chance to introduce Albany to the campus community was highly fulfilling, and staff look forward to attending other Open Houses across campus as they occur (several are offered during Staff Development Days in January!)
