One L&C ChamPIOn - Sherron Stonecypher

As Director of Conferences and Events, Sherron Stonecypher goes above and beyond her position when helping to plan events. For all her years of dedication and professionalism, she is our One L&C ChamPIOn for the second week of April.

Lewis & Clark takes great pride in providing an atmosphere where learning and personal growth can flourish. When the college succeeds, it is because people like Sherron Stonecypher live this mentality. Sherron, a ’92 alumna of the College of Arts and Sciences, has been working for the College for over 19 years. As Director of Conferences and Events, she goes above and beyond her position when helping to plan events. She prepares coordinators of all skill levels with equal measures of grace to anticipate any hiccups that might arise, ensuring that all teams (Coordinators, Events AV, Facilities Services Teams, Bon Appetit, Housekeeping, and more) are all on the same page. For all her years of dedication and professionalism, she is our One L&C ChamPIOn for the second week of April.

Sherron’s work is associated with thoughtfulness and flawless execution. When she arrives at work, her goal is to help make someone else’s day better. Upon becoming a Director, she wanted to make Conferences and Events run more smoothly in 6 months. As it turns out, there are always ways to improve and she is still raising the bar for excellence after 18 years. She loves her job because it is a different chess board every day, and she loves the challenge of figuring out the best path forward.

Sherron is humble when given praise, and quick to deflect attention and give credit to her peers. We’re happy to help turn that focus back onto her, but she’d like to highlight the “lights of her life” for whom she remains grateful. Her daughter, Michaela, and her husband, Jay Friends (’93) are her daily motivation. Her mentors and teammates (Michael, Kerry, Laura, McKenna, Cassie, and Tori) help her approach each day with a desire to make things better. We’re grateful for Sherron and her continued dedication to the students, staff and faculty of Lewis & Clark. She embodies everything it means to be an L&C ChamPIOn.
