Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR)

In accordance with federal regulations, Lewis & Clark’s Responsible Conduct of Research Policy requires that all staff, faculty, and students involved in research are trained in RCR, and that the institution maintain training records. All individuals and faculty supervisors working on a funded research project must complete and pass a designated online training course. PIs are responsible for making sure research team members comply with these requirements.

New Lab Members: Faculty mentors must notify SPARC when new individuals join their laboratory. All researchers must complete RCR training, and additional modules are required for research involving vertebrate animals and/or human subjects. SPARC will provide lab members with training instructions. It is the PI’s responsibility to ensure that all required training is completed prior to beginning research.

Renewal: Online training modules are valid for four years. SPARC will track completion of training modules, maintain institutional records, and notify researchers when training must be renewed.

Online Training Modules: Lewis & Clark subscribes to training modules through CITI. Training courses are available to all Lewis & Clark faculty, staff, and students. Training Instructions will help you create an account and select required online training modules.
