Internships and Opportunities

While the Office of Equity and Inclusion does not currently have any internship opportunities available for students, we try to connect our community members to as many outside opportunities as we can.

 Emerging Leaders Internship Program

The Emerging Leaders Internship (ELI) Program matches underrepresented college students—first-generation students, low-income students, and students of color—with paid internships at top Portland companies. For more information, please visit their website.

Q Center Community Leadership Project

Applications accepted in late Winter/early Spring

 The Community Leadership Project aims to grow the capacity of local LGBTQ2SIA+ leadership through a 100-hour program that affirms the culture of our diverse LGBTQ2SIA+ communities and advances learning through action. The 2019 Community Leadership Project will host up to ten fellows who will experience 100 hours of programming, including a self-identified individual project and a collective group project.  Each participant receives a $600 stipend for their involvement.

 

The Otto and Verdell Rutherford Congressional Internship

Fall, Spring, and Summer Applications Open

Senator Merkley offers a nearly $5,000 stipend for an internship position, based in his Washington, DC office for the fall, winter/spring and summer terms.

The Otto and Verdell Rutherford Congressional Internship* provides an opportunity to an Oregonian who seeks to experience public policy-making up close and further the cause of economic and social justice. This unique internship position is designed specifically for students who otherwise would not be able to afford the opportunity to intern in our nation’s capital.

Providence School Outreach Internships

Applications Open Now

Providence supports 50 paid internships per year for undergraduate college seniors, focused on first generation students and diverse candidates. These internships are 10-12 weeks long with a maximum of 240 hours. Internships can be completed during the fall, winter, spring, or summer.  OHSU Summer Equity Research Program

Applications open near the start of each calendar year

An exciting internship opportunity for diverse students to spend eight weeks working with administrators, faculty, scientists, and graduate students in a research and community-based setting. Fields include Biomedical Sciences, Dental, Medicine, Nursing, Physician Assistant, Public Health, Health Services Delivery, & Oregon Hearing Research Center.

 Partners in Diversity Job Board

Partners in Diversity aims to connect professionals of color with employers in Oregon and southwest Washington. Positions are posted by organizations that have made diversity and inclusion a priority in their workplace. New positions are posted every day, so please return frequently for updates. There are many postings on this site that will work with student’s schedules.
