Deadline Extended to Dec. 9: Culturally Engaging Campus Environments Survey

October 31, 2016

Faculty and students on all three campuses have received email invitations to participate in the Culturally Engaging Campus Environments (CECE) survey.

The survey invites have been coming from The CECE Project ( with a subject line that reads “Share your experience…”

The survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete and asks questions about the environments on campus, experiences in college, academic success, and student motivation and sense of belonging in college.

Participation is completely voluntary, and feedback is confidential. Participants can skip questions and can save answers to return later at any point in the survey.

Survey participants will be included in a drawing to win one of five available $25 iTunes gift cards.

The staff version of the survey will be available this spring, at which time staff across the three schools will be surveyed.

The survey is sponsored by the Committee on Diversity and Inclusion. Survey administration will run through Friday, December 9.

Findings from this study will be used to inform the work of college educators at Lewis & Clark, so that they can improve the campus environment for all students.

Question about the study or the procedures may be directed to the CECE Project at Indiana University – Bloomington at

From the CECE website: “The overarching aim of the CECE Project is to create and utilize tools to assist postsecondary institutions in their efforts to examine, understand, and improve their campus environments and maximize success among diverse student populations. The CECE Project moves beyond typical climate assessments that tend to focus on challenges in the environment. Instead, the CECE Project focuses on the types of environments that engage and support college students from all backgrounds.”
