1. Bullying Detection & Prevention
Presenter: Valerie Craigwell White, Ombudsperson
Bullying has been in the headlines frequently over the past year, as incidents in schools have led to increased isolation and sometimes suicide. Bullying is defined as a pattern of aggressive behavior that involves unwanted, negative actions, repeated over time, involving an imbalance of power or strength. With the advent of social networking and increased online communication, bullies have taken to the internet to further harass and intimidate their prey. Learn what you can do to deal with bullying, and how to spot warning signs of being either a bully or the victim in your child, a student or co-worker.

2. From Hippies to Hipsters: Exploring the “Coolness” of Each Generation

For the first time in American history, we have four generations working side-by-side in the workplace. At times generations can collide. Together we will learn to appreciate the unique strengths, values and ways of communicating and getting things done.

3. From Peace to Peace Out: Managing Hippies and Hipsters

Leading other generations can be challenging. In fact, you may not recognize that a generational difference is happening. Learn how to guide and motivate employees from different generations; how the four generations differ in the ways they prefer to be managed; and practical tips for enhancing your success by tailoring your leadership style to approach the needs of different age groups. Whether you manage student employees, staff or lead projects, this class is for you!

4. Managing Student Employees
Presenters: Kris Codron, Associate Director of HR and Scott Munden, Student Employment Coordinator
Do you manage student employees? If so, you’ll be interested in this informative class. You’ll learn tips on how to keep student employees interested and motivated in their employment. You’ll also learn some of the basics of supervision such as setting expectations, coaching, managing performance concerns and performance evaluations.
