Big Turnout Expected for Inauguration on Oct. 5: Venue Changes and Parking Challenges

An enthusiastic response to the invitation to the inauguration of President Wim Wiewel on Friday, October 5, means a few changes.

An enthusiastic response to the invitation to the inauguration of President Wim Wiewel on Friday, October 5, means a few changes. The symposium, Exploring for the Global Good, will now take place in Agnes Flanagan Chapel, and the installation ceremony has been moved to Pamplin Sports Center.

We’re expecting at least 200 guests from off-campus, in addition to early visitors for Homecoming and Family Weekend, so parking will be a challenge.

While we’re still working on mitigation strategies to be communicated soon, please think ahead about ways to avoid bringing a single-occupancy vehicle to campus on that day. We expect to be able to offer off-site parking and shuttles, but we also hope you’d consider public transportation, the Pioneer Shuttle, and/or carpooling. More to come soon.
