Connecting New Community Members

An unexpected combination of faculty, staff, and a recent alumnus came together to help a members of an African refugee family become valued employees on our custodial staff.

When Prosper Toubaro arrived in Portland from the Central African Republic with his wife, Evelyne, and their seven children, they faced numerous challenges. The family had been living for ten years in refugee camps and needed to find housing and jobs—all while learning English.

Now, Prosper and his son Max have steady jobs working for L&C’s custodial company, A&A. Read about the amazing network of Lewis & Clark community members, along with the team at A&A, who helped them to get on their feet here in Portland.
