Monday, January 15, Campus Information

Weather conditions are improving in Portland. Thanks to hard work from Facilities, Campus Safety, and other essential personnel, campus roads and walkways have been cleared, and food service is open in Fields Dining. The graduate school, however, is currently without power and will be closed until power is restored.

Lewis & Clark will observe the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, January 15, meaning that there are no classes and faculty and staff should not report for work. However, the CAS campus will be open for scheduled events, including the MLK Volunteer Day, athletic practices, and move-in.

Notwithstanding another significant weather event, we expect work and classes to resume as scheduled on Tuesday, January 16.

Faculty are aware that students may be unable to reach campus due to the weather and have been instructed to make accommodations for those delays. Students unable to attend class due to weather should reach out to their professors directly to arrange for accommodations.

Please continue to prioritize your safety and be thoughtful about travel as you return to campus:

  • Numerous trees have fallen on campus during this storm. Please exercise caution around campus trees and avoid heavily wooded areas as some could still be compromised.
  • The Pio Express will be running starting Monday, January 15, but the route might be modified and there could be delays. The app is the best place for up-to-date information on the Pio.
  • As of now, TriMet MAX service is still unavailable. When service does resume, the red line, which services Portland International Airport, is suspended for an improvement project until Sunday, February 25. TriMet buses are operating on snow routes and experiencing delays.

In an emergency, call or text 911.
