How We’re Doing

  • Once again, we’re sending our sincere thanks to your office and especially to superman Ken Dodson for responding so quickly to our request for a filing cabinet key. It’s so great that this specific request was completed and delivered to us in less than an hour.

    - Amy Williams, Administrative Coordinator

  • I cannot thank you enough for moving heaven and earth to make this beautiful table available to the Hoffman Gallery. Powell did an amazing job—it is a gorgeous piece of furniture, and it is EXACTLY what we needed.

EVERYONE in Facilities Services works so hard to help me with the Hoffman Gallery. Richard Austin, Leon Grant, Ian Gadberry, Powell Houser, Don Anderegg, Marilyn Sbardellati, Johnny Weigel—I am sure I am forgetting someone. But, really, I could not do my job in the Hoffman Gallery without these amazing colleagues. I am moved that they are all so accommodating with some sometimes wacky Hoffman Gallery requests.

    Again, my deepest thanks. BRAVO!

    - Linda Tesner, Director of the Hoffman Gallery of Art

  • Hi Richard,

We would like to thank you and your painting crew for the repainting job of Rogers 410. Repainting the entire room makes a big difference, it has a new look now - a pleasant room.

    Well done!

    - Amy Williams, Administrative Coordinator

  • Thank you thank you thank you for your help in creating such a awesome event for the PNCC group! It wouldn’t have been possible without everyone working behind the scenes to make this event a success!

    - Peter McKay, Assistant Dean of Admissions & Danielle Caldwell, Associate Director of Conferences and Events

  • Scott Lege,

The vendor has been doing amazing work so far and have been very quick. They really understand athletic needs.

    - Mark Minty

  • Thanks to Clark Ide - he does a good job communicating.

    - Dwayne Campbell, DC Tech Inc.

  • Linda Thompson,

On behalf of the ISLC, I would like to express our gratitude for all your help at the Iron Chef event. We got a lot of great feedback and it would not have been possible without you and your students’ assistance.

    Kind regards,

    - Hawi Abbajobir, ISLC President

  • Michel and Johnny,

I just want to thank you both for the beautiful desk that now graces our foyer.  All of the changes you made to the Office of Admissions over the summer are remarkable!  Our space is both more functional and more beautiful.  Your work is much appreciated.

    - Lisa D. Meyer, Dean for Enrollment and Communications

  • Hi Amy,

I so enjoy the signs around campus that explain processes.  On my walk I came across the one describing why the fallen trees are left in place and what they bring to the forest floor.
So interesting!  Thanks much for the information.

    - Kerry Keenon, Associate Director of Conferences & Events

  • Richard Austin was such a pleasure to work with. He fixed up everything in the office so wonderfully that I thought he deserved a shout-out. Thank you.

    - Billy Walker, Executive Assistant to the VP for Finance

  • Thank you for being so responsive to my inquiries and requests during the ice storm, and for thinking through the scenarios and contingency plans with me.  My job in overseeing this symposium is made far easier by having so many amazing people to work with to assist with the shifting logistics.  Your ability to anticipate our needs–and to turn on a dime–impresses me every year.

    Many thanks,

    - Kim Brodkin, Assistant Professor and Ray Warren Symposium Program Director

  • Ken Dodson,

Once again, we thank you for your very quick action on our rekeying requests. We do appreciate it very much.

On behalf of the Grad School, thank you again.

    - Amy Williams, Administrative Coordinator

  • Dear colleagues/friends,

I wanted to take a moment and thank you all so much for making the evening with Sr. Helen a wonderful experience.
I have received much positive feedback from the LC community and beyond about how special and transformative the evening was.  I had many students talk to me afterwards – some came out as ‘closet Catholics’ and said it was very meaningful to have their faith affirmed at LC; others acknowledged that they were simply inspired by her energy and public speaking; others said they appreciated her framing around ‘Waking up” and using privilege for good…
Last night was truly a team effort.  Each of you contributed in such significant ways – from behind-the-scenes logistics, to putting together a fabulous swag bag, to providing rides, sound systems, the dinner, warm welcomes, coordinating students to help and attend…and the list goes on and on…
I appreciate your partnership and trust in me in choosing Sr. Helen as an LC speaker.

Thank you all again very much,

    - Cathy Busha, Associate Dean of Students for Student Engagement

  • Ken Gaine,

Thanks so much for your prompt attention, diagnosis, and resolution of this problem.  The burning frig really was serious.  Vivi is so appreciative of your attention to her problem and appropriate action. THANK YOU!

    - Carolyn Locke, International Students & Scholars

  • Thanks to Bob Tomlin for coming onto campus this morning and for your pro-activity as on call during this rain storm. Additional thanks to Max Williams, Tim Putnam, Powell Houser, Brian Gardner, and Ken Dodson for their work this weekend.

    - Michel George, Associate Vice President for Facilities

  • I just wanted to give a huge thanks, to all that have helped me get the Ham Radio area looking sharp.

I really appreciate the enthusiasm and interest that some of your staff  have shown, in regards to the emergency communication equipment in this room.

Could not have done it with out your help!

    - Julie Couch, Campus Safety Officer

  • Clark,

We discussed borrowing a couple of people from your crew, and to my pleasant surprise Don, Jason, K’Lyn, and Kenny were available and ready to work first thing this morning.  We completed by the setup before morning break.

I need to pass along my gratitude and commend their work ethic. It’s great practice to cross train and assist each other as departments when busy days, like today was suppose to be, come out of the wood works.

Myself and the events crew can now take a very happy sigh of relief.

    Many thanks and happy Friday,

  • Last semester, early one morning, a man worked on the heating system in Albany. I chatted briefly with him and was struck not only with his dedication to fixing a problem (it’s ALWAYS been too cold in here)…but his genuine excitement about discovering the cause(s). I no longer keep an extra shawl or blanket in my office and even the students who visit make comments like, “wow, it’s comfortable in here. I can take my coat off!”

I truly wish I had caught the name of the man who fixed the heating system because I, and many others, would like to say “thank you!” We appreciate the work that your entire dept. does, but we’re especially grateful to the man who fixed the heating system.

    - Eileen Dowty, Director of Student Support Services

  • Last week when I got a flat tire at work, Gabe helped me out and insisted that he could fill my tire for me. He emailed me later that afternoon and said that he had filled my tire with air, but the tire had a leak in it. He was worried that it wouldn’t be safe for me to drive to the repair shop after work and said he would come by at the end of his shift and refill my tire so I would be good to go! His thoughtfulness really made an impression! I’m sure you know what a great employee you have, he really goes above and beyond.

    - Hiromi Head, Associate Director of Annual Giving

  • Greetings from the International Students & Scholars (ISS) office.  As I think you know, two of the student groups ISS supports have just completed their largest events of the year in back-to-back weeks.  The third TCK Symposium took place on Thursday, February 26, and the 50th International Fair on Saturday last weekend.  Both events were unqualified successes, due to the contributions of many individuals and offices

While the symposium and the fair are very different in nature, they both require the services of Linda Thompson, your events AV coordinator, and I believe she deserves a strong and very public commendation for her work with our student groups.  I think it is all too easy to take excellence for granted in Linda’s area.  Her work often involves implementing highly detailed set-up plans in a short amount of time under more stressful conditions than most of us would find agreeable.

She does this for all kinds of groups, day after day, and we don’t hear about her because she does her job so well.  This is a little bit like referees and computers–it’s not news when they do what they are supposed to, but even a tiny glitch can turn into a headline…  I want to point out that you have an exceptional staff member doing fantastic job with a workload that seems appropriate to about 3 people, not one.  Two people at Saturday’s international fair separately told me, “Wouldn’t it be great if we could clone Linda?”  Obviously we cannot, but we can give credit where it’s due.

I don’t know if your department does anything in particular to honor or recognize outstanding employees,  If so, I strongly recommend Linda for such recognition.

    Best regards,

    - Brian D. White, Director of International Students & Scholars

  • Michel George,

I really appreciated your help in getting me back into my office. Thank you again for being so responsive to my problem.

    - Timothy Hopkin, Campus Safety

  • Gabe and team members,

I did not want this day to end with out sending you and your team my sincerest appreciation for all of your help today.

I felt so incredibly supported by you and your entire team. You all did a wonderful job responding to the fallen tree incident, checking the integrity of the building, cutting the tree away from my car and then taking such great care as to tarp it to keep the rain out.

It is my hope that my LC Love Bug can be fixed and back on the road soon.

    With my deepest gratitude,
    - Mary Welch, Campus Safety

  • All your hard work behind the scenes makes for a flawless evening for the things we can control. Lt Col Alex Jefferson’s talk was terrific. I’ll remember this a long time.

    - Valerie White, Ombudsperson

  • I just wanted to write a quick thank you note for everything you did over the last few weeks to help us run a successful national championship tournament for individual events this last weekend. We had nearly 100 schools and 775 total people on our campus, which is never easy to manage–and while I did my best to organize it all, I could not have done so without the support of those at the school who helped out. Whether it was our dining services, our campus safety, our events crew or other folks who provided support, I received so many compliments on the weekend and I wanted you to know how very appreciative I am.
    - Joseph Gantt, Instructor and Director of Forensics
  • Janice has done an AMAZING, AMAZING job with the P-Card program. Thank you!

    - Moira Domann, Purchasing Manager

  • Thank you all so much for each of your contributions in making Lt Col Alex Jefferson’s talk run very smoothly. It was truly a team experience. I heard overwhelmingly positive feedback from the veterans, LC students, staff and faculty, as well as the community members who attended.

A special thanks to Linda Thompson for putting together the powerpoint pictures and for the entry music - it provided such a nice touch!

    With gratitude,
    - Cathy Busha, Director Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement

  • Powell just completed some custom counters for one of the student organization spaces here in Templeton. Powell’s professionalism and attention to detail went above and beyond any expectations I had for this project. Powell’s work is incredible and he was fantastic to work with (he is always fantastic to work with). The students are really excited about the space and how they’ll be able to better utilize it now with these new counters.

Thanks to Powell for his great work.

    - Jason Feiner, Director of Student Activities

  • K’Lyn Bain,

I just wanted to say “thank you” for your excellent work in getting Kelly’s office open. With the locksmith out and Campus Safety not able to get in, I felt doubtful that Kelly would get into her office today. However, due to your fabulous work she is able to continue her work day smoothly. Thank you, your work is much appreciated.

    - Bonnie Von Wald, Administrative Assistant

  • We would like to thank Facilities and the electrical team for fixing the circular light unit in Rogers hall. We appreciate all of your help very much.

    - Teacher Education Department, Graduate School

  • Dear Amy,

I will soon be retiring, and I wanted to end on a great and positive note. I want to thank you for listening to my multiple complaints and responding quickly. The schedule is so much better this year.
    Thanks very much.
    - Mary Brooks, Instructor in Academic English Studies
  • Brian King,

I wanted to personally thank you for helping out. I know you are busy at facilities but without your help, we would not have been able to accomplish what we did.

    - Julie Couch, Campus Safety

  • Thank you so much for the beautiful greens centerpiece!  They seem to get prettier every year!  It’s such a nice thing you do!

    – Nancy J. Hugg, Administrative Coordinator

  • Thank you for the wonderful cookout your department recently hosted. The food, music and conversations were great.  As a new person to the Lewis & Clark College community, the gathering provided me with an opportunity to meet people from across the college. Thank you again!

    - Cathy Busha, Director Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement

  • Richard Austin,

I just wanted to write and thank you for patching and painting my office so well, and so quickly! It looks great and much brighter in there. You and your students were great and I look forward to working with you in the future.

    - Shana Levine, Athletic Director

  • Linda Thompson,

On behalf of Jessika Chi, the Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement staff and myself, I just wanted to thank you so much for all of your help and support in always ensuring our A/V needs are met at a professional level for our events.

I recognize it must require some long days and extra hours to provide us with the support.  I have been working at LC for just over three months now and am very impressed by your team.

Thank you again for all you do,

    - Cathy Busha, Director Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement
