PE/A 101. OUTDOOR ADVENTURES* (1 credit)

This class provides an excellent way for students to learn necessary skills and participate in an array of physical activities geared for the student who enjoys the great outdoors. To attain credit, the student signs up for and participates in 2 College Outdoors overnight trips; or 6 day trips, day clinics, or day workshops; or Winter Wilderness First Responder. Fees may apply.

Each overnight trip, clinic, workshop, and day trip College Outdoors offers in Spring 2021 is filled on a first come/first serve basis and there are many to choose from. Options are available for remote students. Instructor permission required to register, contact Joe Yuska at

This class focuses on outdoors skills, leadership, followership and decision making in a wilderness environment. Outdoor classroom and field sessions develop and test technical and interpersonal skills which are valuable for leadership positions with College Outdoors at LC, other positions in the outdoor industry, and for personal adventures.

In Spring 2021 the course will focus heavily on navigational skills including map/compass, GPS, mapping, and search/rescue protocols. In person required. There will be 2 course sections, one meeting Wednesdays 3:30-5:30 and the other meeting Thursdays 2-4pm. Instructor permission required to register, contact Kori Rosenstiel at

*NOTE: In a non-Covid-19 year, this credit requires participation in a Fall Break or Spring Break trip.
