Bereavement Leave
Purpose: To provide benefit eligible employees with paid time off for the purpose of attending a funeral and making necessary household adjustments due to the death of a family member. For purposes of this policy, same-sex domestic partners have the same status as married couples.
Policy Statement: Benefit eligible employees are entitled to up to five consecutive work days of paid bereavement leave for the death of the employee's own spouse or same-sex domestic partner, child, stepchild, parent or sibling and up to 4 (four) days of paid bereavement leave for other family members as defined below. Employees are entitled to a paid one-day funeral leave for relatives not specifically mentioned in this policy. Employees are responsible for notifying their supervisors of the need for bereavement leave.
