The Office of Equity and Inclusion and Human Resources are excited to announce that we have partnered to enroll our campus in Belong: An Inclusive Learning Community. This is a learning network open to all employees offered on behalf of the Council of Independent Colleges that is intended to increase student and collegial belonging on college campuses. 

Last summer, six exempt employees formed a working group to research ways of organizing a Lewis & Clark Staff Council. Exempt staff—unlike faculty and union staff—do not currently have an organized body within the institution to support their work, promote collaboration and communication, and to serve as an advisory body to the Executive Council.

Join us Thursday, January 18 to learn more about the LGBTQIA2S+ employee resource group. We will meet on the Graduate School campus in York 101.

The Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI) is pleased to announce that a new lactation room has been established on the CAS campus for employees, students, and visitors. 

Director of Accounting Marietta Lawson BS ’79 grew up across the street from Lewis & Clark, and will retire at the end of this month after working nearly 30 years in the Office of Business and Finance. Here she reflects on her countless adventures on campus as it changed over the years.

Ruth Ozeki’s A Tale for the Time Being is the Multnomah County Library Everybody Reads 2023 title. In support of this community reading project, free custom copies are available for pick up at Watzek Library and Boley Law Library. Read, reflect, and participate in online and in-person activities outlined in Multnomah County Library’s accompanying project guide.  Explore the power of books to create a stronger community!

The Ray Warren Symposium on Race and Ethnic Studies, held November 9–11, will examine the role of storytelling as a means of preserving history and passing down cultural traditions.

In 2012, Amanda started at L&C and has now celebrated ten years of service to the college.

Lewis & Clark is reviewing the annual performance evaluation process for staff. The purpose of this survey is to solicit honest feedback in order to make the process better for both staff and supervisors. Please check your inbox for an email from Lewis & Clark College to access the survey.

ONE L&C Engagement Committee exists in support of our coworkers and the L&C community. During this time, we would like to express our whole-hearted support for our Asian, Asian American and Pacific Islander and BIPOC coworkers and students. We embrace anti-racist work at the college and reject violence against our community members.

Our committee is fueled by all members of the L&C team of employees. Please consider suggesting engagement-related programming or support that you would like to see at the college.
